Next Week (October 6): In-person lunch meeting at The Center, 400 Park Ave. South, Corning. Arrive by 11:45 for lunch. Meeting will begin at 12:10 in-person and on Zoom. Program: Harolyn Giordano, Director, The Pink Boutique Store

Since this month we were blessed with five Thursdays, we decided to gather for a special after-hours social meeting at Three Birds Restaurant on Market Street. The gathering was held from 5 - 7 pm and featured delicious hors d'oeuvres of chicken skewers, meatballs, and naan bread with a variety of dips catered by the restaurant. Attendees also had access to a cash bar. Roughly 25 Rotarians and their guests enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and opportunity to engage in fellowship and spirited conversation.

Andy Rochester reports that the setup for this weekend's Wineglass Marathon on Friday went well. Stu Sammis, Tom O'Brien, and Andy met at the storage area and packed the bins with their flags and markers. In the spirit of always being prepared, they also tested out the poles — which should help operations run more smoothly during course setup at 0530 on Sunday morning. The team also created inventory pack lists for the bins for future use.

Thanks to Andy, the Rotary team will use an innovative geo-location app, "What3words," for the first time this year to simplify the process of identifying the exact locations for installing the flags and markers (previously, our team relied on latitude and longitude, which is much less precise).

With the pre-setup complete, our intrepid group of Corning Rotary volunteers will be out early Sunday morning to help set up for the race.
