Jack Benjamin Honored as Corning Rotary Paul Harris Fellow
CORNING, NY— The Corning Rotary Club recently honored community member Jack Benjamin as the Club’s newest Paul Harris Fellow.
Benjamin, the President of Three Rivers Development Corporation since 1981, was recognized at the Club’s October 1st meeting for his role in leading many of the urban planning and economic development activities in the greater Corning area over the past four decades. He began his career as a staff member at Three Rivers in 1973, when he was charged with helping the community recover from 1972’s devastating Agnes Flood.
Benjamin has served on many local community and corporate Boards of Directors including: Guthrie Corning Hospital, Alfred Technology Resources, the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce, Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Five Star Bank, Southeast Steuben United Way, and the Regional Economic Development and Energy Corp. He also served in the role of Chairman of the LPGA Corning Classic for many years.
Benjamin has received numerous awards including the 2012 Apple Award as Volunteer of the Year from Bethany Village, the 2007 Five Rivers Council Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen of the Year, and the 2006 John Eberenz Business Person of the Year Award from the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Corning Rotary Club presents the Paul Harris award to outstanding Club and community members in recognition of activities that exemplify Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”.
