Recognition - President Ernie continued [see video] ... Richard Pope has probably has recruited more new members than anyone in the club's history, and has brought in the most program speakers. He also brought the Scripps Spelling Bee to us  [which we now support] and that has produced two national champions since the Bee has been under our auspices.
 
Announcements [mainly President Ernie]:
  • October 21, 2024 meeting with the Board of Directors is with the Board Chairs; please ensure you have someone present to represent your committee
  • Surveys have been collected from several additional members

  • John Vine passed away last Tuesday.  Ross Perry shared a cautionary tale about education / cars that have a flashing light / advisability of carrying cash for traffic fines...

World Polio Day- October 24, 2024
  • Social is 10-24-24 Careys: 5-7pm
  • A donation box was available at the meeting for collections. Please make checks out to the Rotary Foundation; memo Polio Plus
  • Gates Foundation matches the donations 2:1

  • The Trivia Game!! The game taught us even more about Polio -- Polio Plus --- and wrong answers became cash donations.
 
Program: Special Guest: District Governor Dave DeMers and Ann DeMers
Coda - Ernie read a very nice thank you note from the 5th Graders. Our $1700 donation had restored their ability to have field trips this year.
