Marisa Thomas has been approved by the Board of Directors for membership in the club. Marisa's bio is up on ClubRunner.
Bill Boland reminded members to send out the email invitation to the Holiday Event with Rotary to friends and contacts. Tickets for Rotarians will be available as of November 17th. Stacy Ward is looking for volunteers to staff the event.
The Annual Joint Club Thanksgiving Meeting will be held Tuesday, November 22nd. Hosted by the Kiwanis Club, the speaker will be Jamie Johnson, Executive Director Steuben County Industrial Development. Reservations for the lunch meal were due last Tuesday, 11/15, but if you don't have a reservation, you may still attend, just not eat.
The club received a Thank You Note from the Pikesville (Kentucky) Rotary Club for our donation of $2,000 for their flood relief efforts.
Community Gardens Update: PLANT A SEED. CHANGE A LIFE.
President Stu gave the club a season-end wrap up. It was a very successful year for the gardens. At the Kate Danforth Garden in South Corning, new beds were added for a new total of 65 beds, 85% of which were rented this summer. Sad news: the apple trees we planted died. At Jodi's Garden at the Corning Food Pantry, over 300 pounds of produce was harvested for pantry clients. New additions were a row of herbs and a soaker hose system. The gardens at Calvin Smith, Winfield and Severn Elementary Schools are coming along after some delays and hold-ups. Many groups have contributed their time to maintaining the gardens including Beartown Alliance Church, Groups from Sullivan Park, a Robotics club, the Alternative School of Math and Science, and more. Financial support came from Corning Rotary and First Presbyterian Church as well as help from the Town of Corning Building and Grounds department.

Dick Perry congratulated the Community Bank for an excellent concert last Sunday.
Jan Harvey celebrated a win in last week's Billion Dollar Powerball: her first lottery win ever. One number and the powerball gave her a total of $4!
Dick Puccio is back in town.
Rick Davis crowed about his grandson, Jonah, participating in the National Weighlifters Competition in Las Vegas.
Program:
Paula Smith introduced President Ryken Ruuspakka of the Elmira Rotary Club who spoke on what being a Rotarian means to him and how he became involved with Rotary.
There was a good exchange of club news and ideas between President Ryken and the seven past presidents of the Corning club who were present at the meeting.
