The club met for lunch at noon at First Presbyterian Church.  President Stu called the meeting to order at 12:10 pm with the ringing of the Rotary bell.  This was followed by the singing of My Country ‘Tis of Thee and recitation of the pledge of allegiance.  Cindy Long gave the invocation and with help from fellow Rotarians, Stu recited the Four-Way Test.  
 
Club Service: Bill Boland served as photographer and Ernie Danforth was the Cogs editor.
 
Guests: John Brown introduced Dr. William Mullaney, the President of SUNY Corning Community College, and Henry Pascal from Philippines, pastor of the First Congregational Church.
 
 
 
Announcements:
  • Stu called on Les Rosenbloom representing the Paul Harris Committee.After a brief introduction he presented Rick Davis with his Paul Harris plus 3 pin, and since we have not been in person much these past two years, John Brown followed that by presenting Rick Davis with his plus 4 pin.  Congratulations, Rick, and thank you for your continuing support of the RI Foundation.  
  • Les – Rick Davis received his plus 3 and plus 4 pins for Paul Harris.
  • President Stu than announced that Steve Staggs recently passed away.  There would be calling hours at Haughey Funeral Home on Saturday, July 16th and any Rotarians who were available were encouraged to attend.  Our own Jeff Ugoretz presided over the service after the calling hours.
  • Wendy Winnett noted that Camp Star money and donations for prizes for the golf tournament were needed right away.  She noted also that our own Bill Boland had donated art and money.
  • Andy Rochester noted that we have a new Zoom address and that it will be permanent since it is no longer tied to any individual. It is listed on the website!
  • Stu noted that the board and committee chairs will have a meeting on August 20th and we will be meeting at the Radisson.
  • This led to a discussion returning to in-person meetings with lunch.  The discussion was lively and multisided. Stu noted we have a committee working on this and that they will be presenting recommendations to the board of directors.   
  • Volunteer opportunities:
    • We are looking for 8 volunteers to serve as ushers for the August 7th Endless Mountain Concert at the Nassar Ice Rink.  Volunteers are invited to stay for the concert.
    • Rotary night at Camp Star will be Monday August 15th. We're looking for 10 volunteers for the event.

  • There will be a Board of Directors meeting on Monday July 18th at 6:00 pm.  It will be a Zoom meeting.  If you want to attend, let Stu know.
 
Program:  Ray introduced our speaker, Mark Witt, the general manager of the Elmira Pioneers.  Please see the Zoom recording for the presentation!
