Eric Biribuze is a senior global business leader at Corning Incorporated and currently leads Corning Environmental Technologiesâ Global Customer Service and Commercial Excellence unction. In this role, he is responsible for driving commercial strategies to achieve business growth through exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of customer service principles, and a strategic, results-oriented approach to business development.
Eric brings nearly three decades of experience at Corning, having held leadership roles across strategy, sales, new business development, manufacturing, finance, and product line management in the United States and internationally. He is widely respected for his ability to scale global businesses, lead complex transformations, and build high-performing, diverse teams.
Born in Burundi, Ericâs early academic excellence launched a remarkable global journey. After ranking among the top students nationally, he earned a prestigious scholarship to study in China, where he mastered Chinese and English while completing both undergraduate and graduate education entirely in Chinese. He holds a Bachelorâs degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masterâs degree in Management Information Systems from Northeastern University, as well as an MBA from the Walker College of
Business at Appalachian State University.
Since joining Corning in 1997, Eric has consistently delivered strong commercial and operational results. Among his most notable achievements was leading the launch and global adoption of Corningâs EDGETM product platform, which strengthened the companyâs leadership in the data center market and has generated more than $1 billion in revenue since its launch. His leadership extended from product strategy through commercialization and into manufacturing scale-up, including hands-on leadership at one of Corningâs largest manufacturing facilities in Mexico.
Eric is also a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and talent development. He is a founding member and inaugural Chair of the Corning Black Employees Network (CBEN) and has dedicated significant effort to mentoring and developing talent from underrepresented backgrounds. His leadership and service have been recognized with the 2018 Black Engineer of the Year Award for Professional Achievement and the 2024 Black Engineer of the Year Award for Community Service.
Beyond Corning, Eric is the founder of STELA (Science Technology Entrepreneurship Leadership Academy), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization delivering world-class STEM and leadership programs to youth in under-served communities across the United States and Africa. Guided by gratitude and a strong belief in paying it forward, Eric is deeply committed to creating lasting impact through education, mentorship, and global engagement.
Eric Biribuze is fluent in five languages and is known for his global perspective, principled leadership style, and ability to connect strategy, customer service excellence, and commercial execution at scale.
