[December 2020] The Rotary Club of Corning is committed to serving the critical needs of our local community during these challenging times. In an effort to help reduce hunger and rising rates of food insecurity in the greater Corning area, Rotary recently donated $2,000 to the Corning Community Food Pantry.
According to its website, the mission of the Corning Community Food Pantry is “to eliminate hunger in our area through the distribution of food and information; without regard to race, color or creed, in the most understanding and sympathetic manner, recognizing the dignity and equality of all people under God.”
On Friday, December 11, Corning Rotary President Paula Smith presented Corning Community Food Pantry Executive Director Mary Caruso with its contribution to help provide healthy food to area residents in need. This donation was the latest example of Corning Rotary’s ongoing support of the Food Pantry through both financial contributions and volunteer service. On two separate days in November, Rotarians volunteered at the Corning Community Food Pantry’s community garden, and helped pack 440 Thanksgiving meals for donation to local families.
