Welcome to our guests and visiting Rotarians:
- Ted Goldwyn introduced Dave Quakenbush, advisor for the Interact club at the High School Learning Center and two Interact students
- John Brown introduced Jeff Krans, Past District Governor and Foundation Chair, and Leon Frontier.
This is the 10th year of our club's first Global Grant for about $45,000 that sent Leon to the Democratic Republic of Congo, ranked
186 out of 187 for poverty by the United Nations. Leon set up a team of people trained in building latrines, building ferro holding tanks for potable water, teaching sanitary lessons and drilling wells for drinking water. The teams he created are still doing the same today. At the time it was the largest Global Grant generated by District 7120. Today's Global Grant that Ray is spearheading is once again the largest Global Grant ever granted to our District 7120.

- President Ernie celebrated the September birthdays with Ray Defendorf leading the singing of Happy Birthday.
- Past Rotarian Don Creath will be posthumously awarded the First Responder of the Year Award at the memorial for First Responders in Painted Post on Wednesday, 9/11, at 11:00 AM.
- Rotary Leadership Institute is being held Saturday, October 19th, at Victor High School, 953 High School, Victor NY. Parts I, II, and III will be taught. Cost is $70 per attendee. If your budget allows, it would be nice to subsidize the registration fee or share part of it. Stacy Ward has completed the three parts and can tell you what you will learn. Past Pres Stu Sammis filled us in on the upcoming fundraiser, Oktoberfest, to be held Saturday, October 12, in the Civic Center Ice Rink. Volunteer sign-up sheets are HERE. Tickets are HERE. This will be an "all hands-on deck" opportunity with lots of volunteer slots to be filled. We need lots of volunteers so bring friends and family to help!
Oktoberfest is planned to be the second yearly major fundraiser for the club to provide the funds we want to run our programs in the community, provide scholarships and the funds for various nonprofits that Rotary supports.
Past President Stu also said the base for the Greenhouse Project at Corning Community Food Pantry is completed. Volunteers will be needed to build the planting beds for the greenhouse. Keep your eyes peeled on ClubRunner and your email for more information to come.
Ernie also mentioned the need for volunteers for the information booth at Watkins Glen races this coming weekend. Sign-ups are on Clubrunner HERE.

At the September 19th meeting, we will review the survey results and hear your input into it. If you cannot make the lunch meeting, we will hold an evening zoom meeting on September 23rd at 6:00 PM.

50/50 was won by Jan Harvey, who with her usual luck, did not pull the winning card. The jackpot is still available to the lucky person. Only 11 cards left in the deck!
