Happy Birthdays to our August Rotarians -- none of whom were present. So we sang Happy Birthday to John Wahlig who actually has a March birthday.

Special Presentation:

Past President Stu Sammis presented "The Big Check" to Mary Caruso and the Corning Community Food Pantry for building and outfitting the 12x24 foot greenhouse at the Food Pantry. These monies were from our District Grant for the 2024-2025 year. They will be used to furnish the greenhouse with planting beds and accoutrements that will extend the growing season for fresh produce to 9-11 months!

Club Survey will be available on-line for the input of all members. Paper copies will be available to those not capable of completing an on-line version. Completion date is August 15th!

Good News:

Gail Hostuttler is celebrating her 11th anniversary of coming to Corning for her job as Executive Director at the YMCA.
Rick Davis is celebrating his 57th anniversary with his wife, Pat.
Rugmani Kutty celebrated her good luck in not having anything horrible happen to her when her phone was hacked. She passed on a warning to all of us to be vigilant!

Today's Speaker:

Gretta Tomb spoke about her adventures with HELPS International on her trip to Guatemala. Two of her sons went with her. While there, Gretta performed 45 dental procedures while the doctors in the group treated 1047 people and performed 428 surgeries. Special greener stoves were installed in 60 homes and 1 school. (Our club donated the cost of 2 stoves.) The HELPS people became known as the people with the kind hands. Take the time to watch the video of her talk. It is truly worth the watching.
