9-2-21 Zoom Club Meeting [recording] Jeff Ugoretz opened the meeting at 12:10 p.m. with the ringing of a bell; the recorded singing (by Lee Greenwood) of “My country ‘tis of Thee”; the Pledge of Allegiance; the 4 Way Test; and an invocation by Wendy Winnett.

Our Guest today: Mary Jane the cutest future Rotarian and the granddaughter of Dick Puccio, as well as pillow fight champion, was present.
Next week is our first in-person meeting at the former Radisson. Please use the link provided on our Rotary Home Page ASAP, as the selections need to be make a week ahead of time; however they are giving us some leeway this time. Please ask Andy if you have any issues with this and he will make sure you get the meal you want and you can pay next Thursday. Postcards are on their way out to members in an attempt to make sure all our members know. Please be patient with this new process as well as the proposed attempt to do a hybrid meeting via Zoom. Also,Jan is requesting feedback in regards to next week’s meals so we can continue to improve the process. Andy has included a lunch choice if you want to attend but not order food. If you do not order on-line with a credit card or PayPal, please bring cash to pay for your meal.
We will be having an evening meal there on 9-23 with our new District Governor.
Shepard’s Table was a success due to the efforts of a number of Rotarians including: Dale Wexell, Wendy and Pete Winnett, Francis LaLomia, Dick & Marilyn Puccio, Ernie Danforth, Jeff Ugoretz and Stephen & Andy Rochester.
The Board voted last week to give $5000 for the local flood relief fund, Steuben County Emergency Response, being managed by a number of local agencies including the United Way.
Stu reported that he and Pauline, his wife Barb and John Brown and Stephanie Knudsen, Stu’s daughter, made 200 breakfast sandwiches last Saturday to deliver to those helping the flood efforts. Stu stated that the main road into Woodhull is washed out but they made it to the firehouse to make the delivery.
The Tri-County First Responder’s Park dedication ceremony will take place on 9/11 at 11:00am in the Gang Mills location and all are invited. The park will be dedicated to our own Father Lou Brown. Contact Don Creath for details.
The next Rotary Board meeting will be Monday, September 5, 2021 at 6pm.

In short, you'll need to preorder your lunch a week before so that your food items can be prepared for you the day of the meeting. We understand that this is a change in process -- but let's give it a try!

The checkout process is very similar to Amazon or any other online vendor. When you get to the payment, if you have PayPal you can use that or click the Credit Card choice. This week's Shepherd's Table at Salvation Army was supported by members of the Corning Rotary Club.They prepared hot food, including grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for 60 recipients. Fresh fruit, cookies and pretzels were also included in the fare. Rotary volunteers prepared the food and packed it; Salvation Army volunteers served the meal. Thanks to all the Salvation Army volunteers and the event lead, Tessa Shove. Also, thanks to the Rotarians that helped prepare and pack food: Dale Wexell, Wendy Winnett, Francis LaLomia, Dick & Marilyn Puccio, Ernie Danforth, Jeff Ugoretz and Stephen & Andy Rochester.
The Red Cross and several church groups are working on clean up mainly in Woodhull, but also Addison. The only way into Woodhull from the East is by backroads which have also been heavily damaged. Our goal was food for the volunteer workers. We met at First Presbyterian Church at 06:30 Saturday. [a special thank you to Pastor Jeff and the Session for allowing us to use the kitchen and hall. We made 200 breakfast sandwiches consisting of:
138 eggs cracked and scrambled
200 frozen sausage patties cooked
200 slices of cheese unwrapped
200 English muffins cut (we know fork split is a con by Thomas's) and toasted
200 sandwiches were:
Built
Individually wrapped in foil
Placed in their own Styrofoam clamshell container
Packed into crates
We delivered them along with 200 fruit cups to the Addison Fire Department, Woodhull Fire Department, and Woodhall Town Hall.
The coordinator of the volunteers at the town hall announced that there were breakfast sandwiches available. One of the volunteers yelled back, "You mean you are feeding us today!" A good deal of laughter was heard.
