Next Week (Nov. 3, 2022): The Club will meet in-person for lunch at the Presbyterian Church and also by ZOOM. Next week’s program will be by Elmira Club President Ryken Ruuspakka on his Rotary Journey. Club Service: Ernie Danforth: Invocation Jan Harvey: COGS GUESTS AND VISITING ROTARIANS: John Wahlig introduced Marisa Thomas, the general manager of the Hilton Double Tree hotel as his guest. Kate Foss (great to see her in person today!) introduced Kendra Mourhess as her guest. November birthdays were celebrated. Happy Birthday to Deacon Ray Defendorf, Bill Boland, Dick Perry, Stacy Ward, and Kelly Copp. |
ANNOUNCEMENTS:   - Sam Sanfratello announced that he was present at the meeting.
- Rich Fastiggi was reported to be recovering from recent operations, hoping to be back soon.
- Bill Boland gave an update on the Holiday Event with Rotary. Rehearsing is going well. Sponsorships are coming in. Dale Wexell is providing wine for the event --MANY THANKS, Dale! Stacy Ward asked the club members to share the Facebook and Instagram posts. She is also looking for volunteers for the event.
- Wendy Winnett shared news on Polina's parents in Ukraine. The infrastructure around their home was bmbed and they no longer have electricity or heat. Now communications are down and there has been no contact in several days.
- President Stu noted that the standard Joint Club Meeting with the Kiwanis and Lions Club will be held Tuesday, November 22nd, at the Radisson/Double Tree. Kiwanis are hosting this year. Details to come.
GOOD NEWS BUCKS:  - Paul Tick reported that he has begun selling two books that he wrote recently. The books are listed on Amazon.
- Ross Perry’s good news is that he has a new great granddaughter!
- Dick Perry announced that this was his first in-person club meeting in 2-1/2 yars.
- Laura Matson is going to be grandmother again soon.
- Kate Foss crowed about her nephew who graduated from NYU with a Masters in Music and Theatre Composition. He was chosen to perform in the Lincoln Center Holiday Show.
- Bill Boland donated to the Good News Fund in honor of the Community Awareness committee's invaluable help with the Holiday Event.
PROGRAM   Paula Smith introduced Matthew Towner as the meeting's speaker. Matt is an experienced small business owner, engineer and manager and has a new venture as a property developer. Being a lifelong resident of Steuben County and a successful engineer with Corning for the past 14 years, he saw a need in the local community to offer local youth the opportunity to expand their education through technology and educational play. Matt is opening two small family businesses, iCode Corning and Empire Bricks, in Painted Post. The meeting zoom recording is here. The PROGRAM portion is here.
