What better day to celebrate the return of our annual Groundhog Day Pancake Supper than actually on Groundhog Day?
Thursday, February 2nd, saw the return of our annual Groundhog Day Pancake Supper to raise funds for our local grant efforts. Like in the "old days," the supper was held at the American Legion in South Corning.
With Buddy Cutler once again at the reins, Rotarians pitched in to make this supper a big success.
Even District Governor Ralph Brandt came to help!
Diners were entertained by the Rotary Band while Interact students helped serve and clean-up.
Faces in the crowd included Dick and Jackie Pope, Paul Tick, Francis Lalomia and family among many, many others. Check out the photos to see who did the cooking!
March 11th is the Annual Regional Scripps Spelling Bee competition sponsored by the Rotary Club of Corning! This year we have 41 schools with 82 spellers participating including all the Corning Painted Post elementary schools, the middle school and three private schools.
The competition is being held at the Corning Painted Post Middle School from 7:30 AM to end approximately 2:00 PM. Volunteers are needed!!!!! We have slots set up for at least 25 Rotarians to pitch in. (Click here to sign-up). Bring a guest; community members are welcome -- be part of the Rotary experience ⚙️.
Each speller is already a winner as they all have competed in their local school’s spelling bee. Coming to the regional bee is an exciting experience for them. Past winners of our Regional Spelling Bee have done well at the national competition in Washington DC. We actually had two of our regional winners go on to win the national competition!
This is a fun event to volunteer for. Sign up now and put the date on your calendar. This will serve as our service event for the month of March.
