Next Week (Dec 8, 2022): The Club will meet in-person at First Presbyterian Church of Corning at 12:10 pm. Our speaker will be Jenny Groen, the 4-H Program Leader with Cornell Cooperative Extension. Development.

In two weeks (Dec 15, 2022): The Club will meet in-person at The Radisson. Please be sure to order your meal by the deadline Friday 12/8/22. Tickets will be available at the 12/8/21 meeting and are available online here.

Announcements:

Our thoughts are with the Sanfratello family. Sam Sanfratello recently passed away.
Caroline Perry is recovering from a recent accident.
Bill Boland said that tickets for the HOLIDAY EVENING WITH ROTARY on December 10th.
- Many Rotarians have provided their time and energy in planning for our community engagement event. Many thanks to all. This will be a high quality event!
- To date, 95 tickets have been sold. $6,000 in ticket sales. 16 tickets remain to be sold. Did you buy a ticket yet?
- We have close to $8,000 in sponsorships.
- We are currently on track to operate under our established budget and raise about $1,000 over our original goal of $6,000

The “Holiday Evening with Rotary” event seeks to raise funds for the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund, directed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA.) This fundraiser continues our club’s early and substantial response to humanitarian needs in Ukraine. Our event signals that Ukraine is not forgotten, that winter is coming and that the need remains immense.

The draft copy of the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan was sent to all members for review. It is expected that everyone will review the plan and provide feedback. Rotarians were asked to review the drafted outcomes and the actions steps. We are looking to review and refresh our Rotary work.

Our discussion focused on answering these questions:

How can we increase our membership activity? We have 71 members and we need about 50% to attend the lunch meetings. Currently, advanced notice and lunch ordering is essential. We have a three month agreement with the Radisson for our lunch meetings. In January 2023 we will renegotiate the plan. As many are aware the hotel will be under renovations. We are thankful for the partnership.
How can we improve our service work? We are in need of a Service Committee Chairperson. A couple of members have been running this right now and we need more help. We seek to bring back our work with the Food Bank and Community Gardens.
