Another wonderful gathering! The event was held at the CPP Middle School on Saturday 3-11-23 as the snowstorm was tapering off. The snow did affect the travel of some of our spellers ... but we had 71 spellers from 39 schools at the bee. Fifty-one of the students were first timers at attending a spelling bee. The spelling bee was started in 2003, and has been sponsored by Corning Rotary Club from 2014 to present. Dale Wexell and Ernie Danforth did a great job of organizing the event. Our Corning Rotary members filled over 35 volunteer jobs in the day's activities: from setting up the school to serving food/drink to assisting the students, ushering them through the event as it progressed. We'll have more details later, but this was a very successful event with great cooperation and assistance from all the volunteers, staff of the Middle School and the participating students/schools.
