The Club convened for its usual Thursday noon meeting in the basement of the First Pres Church in Corning, and on Zoom. Recording of the entire meeting: here; recording of just the presentation: here.

President Stu Sammis asked Wendy Winnett to lead us in singing the patriotic classic, "America (My Country, Tis of Thee)," which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test. Dave Anderson led us in prayer.

Club Service:

Ted Goldwyn documented the proceedings for posterity (i.e., COGS).

Guests and Visiting Rotarians:

Harrie Stevens was a guest for the third time, introduced by John Brown.

Announcements:

President Stu shared news from Rich Fastiggi's wife Jane on his recent open heart surgery. The surgery went well, and Rich is making slow but steady improvement after a first few days of "misery." Rich was discharged last Monday, and will remain in the Philadelphia area for the rest of the month. Get well soon, Rich. We miss you!
Dave Anderson gave an update on Sam Sanfratello, who has been receiving cancer treatments in Rochester. Sam is back home, and is in a waiting pattern in terms of treatment. Dave said he is very weak and lost some weight. Sam, we all wish you the best on your recovery!
Paul Tick is feeling well and recently started physical therapy on his knee. He reports that he can now walk almost without pain. Per Dick Perry, his personality hasn't changed at all!
Stu sent a thank you note to Assemblyman (and former Corning Rotarian) Phil Palmesano for his resolution in honor of our Club's 100th anniversary.
John Brown gave an update on in-person meetings. We are looking forward to hosting our first in-person meetings at The Center at 400 Park Avenue in South Corning on October 6 and 20. To make this work financially for members and the Club, we will need to have roughly 40 members attend each week. Meals will cost $15 pp (or $16 pp by credit card). Members can preorder meals online - Andy Rochester is setting it up. The Club will continue to meet in the Pres Church basement on alternating weeks. Thank you to the search committee for your efforts!
Cathy Buck shared that Former Rotarian Al Frees passed away. Al was a former mayor of Corning. Al moved to Scrim, Washington after retirement. Per his family's request, anyone can donate in Al's memory to the Corning Rotary Club.
The Wineglass Marathon is coming up on October 2nd. Rotarians can volunteer to help set up the course through town at 0-Dark-30. Volunteer sign-up sheet is now on Clubrunner thanks to Andy Rochester.
Stu also shared that we still need committee chairs!

Good News Bucks:

Cathy Buck shared she and her husband recently celebrated their 31st anniversary.
Dick Perry shared that his son moved to Westport, CT. Also his grandson made the Westport High School's varsity soccer team as a freshman!

Today's Program:

Stu Sammis introduced our very own Jenniffer Mullen, who presented the Corning Joint Fire District Safety Initiative, a project that the local fire departments are working on and that the club can potentially be a sponsor.
