⚙️🏫📚 Rotary Reads Celebration

Join us for an exciting luncheon at Corning DoubleTree on Friday, May 19th at noon, as we celebrate the Corning Rotary Reads program. This year, we are proud to host the children from Severn 2nd grade who will participate in the event alongside members of the Corning Rotary Club. Come and experience the joy of reading with these young learners and show your support for this fantastic program. The luncheon promises to be a fun-filled event with great food [special lunch selection for the kids], information on the program, and an opportunity to network with fellow Rotarians. If you are a member of the Rotary Club or want to join us, please sign up now to reserve your spot. Let's celebrate the joy of reading together! Click the register box to be a part of this!

The Children's menu: chicken nuggets, french fries, milk and a cookie. Rotarians meal is Pasta PrimaVera.
Paul Harris Fellowships Nominations - open
Paul Harris Fellowship Nominations - It's time to submit them
  • The Paul Harris Committee is seeking nominations for the upcoming Rotary year.  We are looking for your input on Rotarians or community members to receive a PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP.
  • The committee will receive nominations until the end of May then meet in June to vote on which candidate(s) should be awarded the PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP during the next year (July 1—June 30).

We are seeking candidates using the following guidelines:
  • Rotarian nominees should have demonstrated clear and regular activities representing active and effective club service.
  • All nominees should have the highest personal, moral and professional standards, with widely recognized outstanding character.
  • All nominees should have demonstrated exceptional Community Service.

There are copies of the nomination forms including the guidelines and suggested criteria for a Paul Harris Fellowship in Club Runner under ‘forms’. These deadline dates and nomination forms will also be included in the Club Runner during the last week in April and all of May.

How does the Paul Harris Fellowship Process Work?
For every dollar ($1) our club donates to the Rotary Foundation, the club receives 1 point that can be used toward the awarding of a Paul Harris Fellowship.  It takes 1,000 points to award a Paul Harris Fellowship.  If an individual makes a contribution to the Rotary Foundation, they receive 1 point for each dollar donated.  When they reach 1,000 points they are awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship.

The Corning Rotary Club awards three levels of recognition:
  • Recognizes individuals who contributes $1000 to The Rotary Foundation or has that amount contributed in his or her name.
  • Corning Rotary designates 2 Paul Harris Fellowship awards a year recognizing a Rotarian or community member whose has demonstrated the objectives and mission of the Rotary foundation to build world understanding and peace. We donate 1000 points in that person’s name.
  • Area businesses and organizations can also be recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation by the club’s contributing 1000 points to the foundation in the organization’s name.

History of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award

The Paul Harris Fellowship was named for Paul Harris who founded Rotary with three business associates in Chicago in 1905.  The Fellowship was established in his honor in 1957 to express appreciation for contributions to the humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary Foundation. Those programs include an array of projects that save and invigorate the lives of people around the world and enhance international friendship and understanding.

When a person is recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow, they are presented with a Certificate signed by the Rotary International President and the Chairman of the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation, and a lapel pin. The contribution to The Rotary Foundation can be made in one sum or by cumulative giving over a number of years. Individuals can make a personal contribution or the contribution can be from the club, company or business.

Cheers…Les Rosenbloom, PH Committee Chair
